Leah Campbell is a PhD student in the Department of City and Regional Planning at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, specializing in climate adaptation, coastal resilience, and disaster mitigation. Her research explores strategies for equitably building adaptive capacity to climate change and climate-related disasters in socially vulnerable and politically marginalized communities. The ultimate goal driving her research is how communities can couple resilience and equity to avoid the perpetuation of inherently vulnerable or unjust systems, particularly during the process of relocation - both forced displacement and active retreat - in response to climate change. Leah also serves on the Editorial Board of the Carolina Planning Journal. Prior to returning to school, Leah worked at California Coastkeeper Alliance, assisting organizational efforts around climate resilience and business engagement. She hold a B.S. in Geology and Geophysics, with a focus on environmental science, from Yale University.
