Angela Johnson, Tribal Council President of Nelson Lagoon

Council Member

Angela Johnson is a 28-year-old Unangan who serves as Tribal Council President for the Native Village of Nelson Lagoon. She has lived there her whole life and have been working for the Tribe’s environmental program as the IGAP coordinator for the last 10 years. Angela also commercial salmon fishes in the summer on her boat, FV Bad Boy. Angela’s home town is very important to her and her main focus is to make sure their community is a happy and healthy space. The Native Village of Nelson Lagoon’s livelihood is threatened everyday from erosion and sea level rise, along with other climate change effects. Angela works hard to get her voice out there and talk about how badly climate change is affecting her home town because we need to find solutions to these problems.
